2nd Checkup, 137 pounds and counting
Well, the coworkers all know now. Everyone’s happy for us. Anca said “so that’s why you stopped drinking coffee.”
We went to my second checkup today. Frank noticed immediately that there were men in the waiting room this time—last time he was the only one. My doctor’s nurse is somewhat gruff. She handed me a cup and pointed to a door and I had to clarify that I was indeed supposed to pee in the cup.
The most surprising thing that happened was when my doctor, Dr. Bridges, was going over my blood results. They showed my blood type as B+ not O+ like I’ve always known. Now I have to go back to my medical records to see what they say. I’ve always been O+ as in O for October when I was born. This is crazy!
After this shock, we went over medical history questions, then she lubed up my tummy and whipped out a device to hear the baby’s heartbeat. She took what seemed like forever to locate it, but sure enough it was there. At this stage it beats pretty fast so it was distinguishable from my own. It was a relief to hear a healthy heartbeat and know that there is indeed a baby in there!
