I had my first dream last night in which I was a pregnant lady. I guess
my brain is finally adjusting to being pregnant. In this dream, I was
walking down the street next to someone who insisted on walking faster
than I could manage. As I struggled to keep up, I had to keep checking
inside my purse because I was afraid that things would fall out. It
turns out that my purse was stuffed full of snacks: two packs of ramen
noodles, granola bars and an apple.

This dream clearly illustrates how important food has become to me.
During the first trimester I was constantly eating; although this has
definitely tapered off, I can say still say that I am usually hungry.

This presents a problem while grocery shopping. They always tell you
never to shop while you’re hungry. I am living proof of that, or
rather, the bags of random snacks that I have purchased during the last
several months are proof of that.

The worst thing to happen so far happened Monday night. I was getting
the usual salad ingredients when I happened upon a table full of cereal
on sale. Staring back at me was a jumbo box of Lucky Charms. Growing up
we were never allowed sugary cereal, in fact I’ve only had Lucky Charms
a few times at sleep-overs, so I have no idea what caused me to pause,
consider and throw them in the cart.

As if buying this sugary concoction weren’t bad enough, as soon as I
got into the car, I tore into the bag, scarfing them down as I waited
in traffic. This was not a proud moment, yet thinking about my yummy
box of Lucky Charms, I’m sure I would do it again.
