Belly Bibs
For awhile, it seemed like a race between the boobs and the belly to
see who can stick out the most, but recent events have proven that the
belly is the clear winner.
I looked down during a movie at my black shirt and saw that my belly
was completely covered with bits of popcorn. Then, in another incident,
I was sitting on the couch eating a bowl of ice cream when Frank
pointed out that the bowl was resting on my belly. When I dropped a pen
on the floor, it took me three swipes to bend down enough to grab it.
I’ve also found myself doing strange things like grunting when I hoist
myself out of the car or sighing when I flop myself down. It’s strange
how I’ve caught myself doing these things that I never thought I would.
One of the most frustrating things this week is that the elastic waist
band pants are so tight that they’re leaving strange symbols on my
belly (and below the belly as they are fitting now.) It almost looks
like I have a second belly button, until you notice that it’s just a
button imprint. Since I haven’t expanded into the full panel maternity
pants yet, I’m in maternity-wear limbo. I’ve just been wearing the
elastic ones below the belly, but then I have to remember to pull them
up every time I stand so they don’t slide down.
Focusing her efforts on growing eyebrows this week, the baby seems
completely oblivious to all of this. I’ve noticed a lot more activity
going on— I guess growing eyebrows takes a lot of effort.
