Sitting on my Own Lap
Week 37, 177 pounds
The belly continues to grow straight out, getting rounder and bigger. I
noticed this week that it actually rests on my lap. I guess it’s nice
to give my stomach muscles a bit of a rest from supporting the weight
of the growing baby. The belly seems to be taking on a life of it’s
own. I had to add a step in my getting out of bed routine—I now have to
sit up for a few seconds so the weight of the baby can get centered.
It’s heavy enough now that if I move too fast, the belly doesn’t have
time to rebalance itself, resulting in balance problems.
I’ve had to reevaluate the pillow situation in bed. I’m now stacking up
more pillows so I’m sitting more upright. I’ve also considered
strapping a pillow to either side of the belly before bedtime so I
don’t have to keep moving my belly support pillow back and forth each
time I wake up to roll over, which is about every hour and a half.
I gained another pound at this weeks doctors visit. I should say that
the baby gained a pound. I’m thinking that since my clothes still fit
that it’s got to be the baby plumpening up. At next weeks visit we’re
having another ultrasound to see how big the baby is. I’m not really
looking forward to this — I definitely don’t want to catch any glimpses
of the baby’s anatomy that would ruin the surprise, nor do I want to
find out that the baby is over or under sized. Congratulations, you get
to push out a 10 pound baby!
The good news is that, as of yesterday, someone else at the office
knows how to do payroll! Now that that’s taken care of the baby can
come any time, but preferably after our trip to the beach this weekend.
Stay tuned to this page . . . we’re going to try and have someone post
the news here as soon as Baby M arrives.
