Cats under the Cradle
I think we’re all ready for the baby: we’ve got the carseat in the car,
hospital bags packed, and the cradle set up in our bedroom. We had to
rig an alarm on the cradle so we’ll be able to catch the cats if they
attempt to get in the cradle. So far they seem content to rest under
the cradle. I wonder about a cradle that doesn’t look comfy enough to
attract a cat for a cat nap, but it’s for the best. I know there are a
bunch of things I have forgotten to buy like wet-wipes, but I’m sure
we’ll make do.
I have to keep reminding myself that statistics aren’t on my side as
far as delivering before my due date. I did some research hoping to
find some relief, but didn’t get any. I found a break-down of which
weeks babies are born and it seems most likely that I will deliver a
few days after my due date – especially since it’s our first.
Before 37 weeks: 4%
37 weeks: 5%
38-39 weeks: 10%
39-40 weeks: 20%
40-41 weeks: 35%
41-42 weeks: 20%
Over 42 weeks: 10%
So, I guess we still have a long wait, which won’t be fun in our 101
degree weather. I’m still going into work in the mornings because I
can’t see sitting around at home waiting and thinking that any little
twinge or tingle could be labor.
I was glad to talk to Kristin yesterday and hear that there is light at
the end of the tunnel. Kristin, my college roommate, had James on July
5 (4 days late). After a long labor, she and James are doing great!

Caper just needs to be careful she keeps her tail out from under the cradle rocker arm!
Every day now we try to persuade the baby to come on out here with us where there’s lots of room and much more to see and do, but so far she hasn’t taken us up on the offer.
