When to Stop

Sunday 9th October 2005 - 10:32:27 AM

When do you stop burping babies? When do they learn to pop their own
ears on airplanes? When do you NOT have to worry about them sleeping
on their stomachs?

All the parenting books and articles are very specific about what we
should be doing, but they never tell you when you can stop doing
these things.

By age 1, you should be done burping. Kids can burp themselves by that age, usually. In terms of sleeping, you should be able to let them sleep on their stomachs when they can rollover VERY well by themselves. Our kids always liked to sleep on their sides as babies, so I wasn’t too worried.
