Finley’s been having a tough time since he got neutered on Monday. He must have learned not to lick his empty nutsack (Frank’s words) while I was watching. I only caught him licking a few times, but he managed to tear open his wound. By the time I got him to the vet yesterday, licking had caused a bad case of “diaper rash” throughout the region. The vet explained this to me as he dabbed Finley with diaper rash ointment. He then proceeded to fit Finley with an e-collar or cone to wear around his neck. Finley was not a happy pup.

Elizabeth doesn’t know quite what to think about all this. Finley hasn’t been a very good playmate this week and has just been napping on his bed. She’s witnessed me shoving medicine down Finley’s throat and using her Boudreaux’s Butt Paste on Finley’s empty nutsack. There’s something not-quite-right about them sharing butt paste.
She’s also perplexed at why Finley has to wear the silly “helmet.” I think she thinks it’s about time Finley kept a “hat” on for more than 10 seconds. (She’s tried repeatedly to get him to wear glasses and hats.)

Elizabeth has also taken to wearing it as a hat–lampshade style. She started this in the vet’s office and got so much attention for it, that she demands to wear it whenever Finley has it off.
