Potty Trained?!
We’ve had a crazy summer being gone almost every weekend for the last two months. We were in Charleston, Jacksonville, Maryland and Polo and Chicago Illinois. During the week Elizabeth used the potty while we were in the house–she’s actually been using the potty since spring. On the weekends she would go back to strictly diapers. We didn’t want any accidents in hotel rooms or friends carpets.
Now that we’re home, we’re kicking potty training into high gear. I’d been putting off this part. Dangling her above a public toilet is not my idea of fun–neither is trying to unroll enough toilet paper from the dispenser to make a suitable toilet seat cover. I guess it’s nicer than changing diapers.
I have to take every potty request seriously, which means leaving the grocery cart and bolting to the nearest bathroom if she mentions the word potty. Now that she’s learning where all the store bathrooms are, she’ll ask to go just for the spectacle of it. I’ll have to learn to avoid walking past certain parts of the store so she doesn’t recognize the bathrooms.
