The Littlest McPherson

Week 18, 148 pounds (baby’s weight approximately .5 pounds)
Today Elizabeth and I went in for my first ultrasound. After waiting around for 45 mins I went up to the desk and asked if I could “give my sample” because I really had to go. They ushered me back to a bathroom and handed me a cup. Usually, Elizabeth will be in the exam room with a nurse while I do this, but today things were different. I peed and set the cup on the counter. To my surprise, Elizabeth started saying “I want a sip!” I said “what??” and she kept repeating herself. I tried to explain to her what was in the cup, but she still wanted a sip. Ick! Now I’m just waiting for her to copy this new trick she learned from mommie.
After almost 2 hours in the waiting room we finally went in for the ultrasound. (Elizabeth had spent her time singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to the “new babies” coming in with their moms for their post-partum check-ups.) I explained to Elizabeth that they were going to hold a camera on my tummy and take a picture of the new baby. I’m not sure she made the connection between my tummy and the print-outs we got, but she seemed to be watching intently. Things were a bit rushed, so I couldn’t explain much to her during the ultrasound.

Here is one of the ultrasound pictures, a side profile of the baby.
