Not to be Repeated

Elizabeth is slowly learning that some things that we do in the privacy of our home are not meant for the outside world. She’s repeated to me a few times “I put my clothes on outside so people don’t see me naked.” We still have some work to do though as I learned last week.

We took Finley to the vet because we’re trying to figure out what’s causing him to throw-up frequently. (He actually put his head on my lap the other evening and made this burping noise before he threw up all over me. Frank was sitting next to me, but managed to escape, leaving his slow pregnant wife behind.) Anyhow, Elizabeth, Finley and I are in the exam room with the vet and he’s talking about putting him on Pepcid-AC when all of a sudden Elizabeth runs over to the vet and pats his bottom a few times. I lunge, but not fast enough, she walks around to his front-side and pats the front of his pants as well.

I tried not to make a big deal about it for fear she would either think it’s funny and keep doing it or she’d decide it’s a good way to get a reaction out of me and go try in on the guy in the produce department next time we’re in Kroger. I was quite embarrassed and pulled Elizabeth over to me and said that’s not something she can do to people. You can do that to mommie or daddy, but not other people. Good thing the vet is a family guy and acted like it was nothing. Hopefully these lessons will sink in!
