Last week Elena cut her 5th tooth, waved good-bye to her daddy and took her first step–all on the same day!

The past week she’s been doing something new every day. She’s discovered how to talk at the same time as she’s discovered walking. Yesterday she said “uh oh!” then plopped down on her bottom. I think her first word was “hot.” She’ll also mimick “yuck” (as in, the potted plant dirt is yuck!) and she’s said “hi.” It seems like overnight that her baby cooing transformed into English sounding babble.

As for walking, in the last week she’s gone from taking her first step to walking most of the time. She’s just toddling along now, walking in circles and staying balanced even when her sister and Finley bump her.

The only answer to how she’s managed to accomplish so much in only a week is that we’re at her grandparents. She learned to crawl here over the summer and now she’s demonstrating her skills again by learning how to walk at 9.5 months!
